La Rue Commune at the 2025 Venice Biennale!

Newsletter n°51 ruv_richez_associes

Last Saturday, the 19th International Architecture Exhibition at the Biennale di Venezia opened. We are delighted to participate with La Rue Commune. Developed in association with Franck Boutté Consultants and Leonard, it was shortlisted among 50 projects to represent France in the "Vivre Avec" exhibition designed by Dominique Jakob, Brendan MacFarlane, Martin Duplantier and Eric Daniel-Lacombe.
A tremendous honour and a magnificent opportunity for the design team to showcase its vision of climate change adaptation in public spaces.
See you in Venice at the French Pavilion located in the centre of the Giardini until 23 November 2025!

Epinay-sur-Orge: Au fil du bois - a healthcare facility

Richez_Associés dedicates its expertise to healthcare. We are delighted with our first project in this sector - a 96-bed nursing home located within the Groupe Hospital-Universitaire de Paris in Le Perray, Vaucluse. Winner of a recent design competition, our integrated architecture and landscape approach is retained!
On the banks of the Orge River, at the foot of a hillside crowned by the historic hospital site and its listed woodlands, a wood and glass architecture sits on a stone plinth. Long planted walkways connect shared patios, delicately surrounding sensory gardens, with views of vast lawns and the riverside forests of the Orge River valley garden. This seamless composition, from intimate spaces to the expansive landscape, between the timber lined facades and the lush greenery of the gardens, will surround both residents and healthcare staff in a bright, calm and soothing setting. Completion scheduled the end of 2027!
Design Team: Richez_Associés (lead consultant), Agence Catherine Dormoy, Egis Bâtiment, Elioth, Atelier Franck Boutté, Ad Inge, Acoustb.

Lille: 45km to undertake together

The Métropole Européenne de Lille appoints us – twofold – to advise on the future development of its metropolitan transportation network!
Richez_Associés is retained for the architectural, urban and landscaping of two of the four future tramlines: the Lille tramway and its surrounding area – 26km of public spaces from one end to the other through 11 municipalities – and the Lille/Villeneuve d'Ascq BRT – 18km East-West connection through 8 municipalities.
In a rich and diverse urban fabric, we envision mixed-use spaces where the tramway and BRT, with their strong ecological potential, will enhance the local identity and establish a continuous and coherent common thread by means of permeable soils, an ecological plant system, signature stations, a new public space layout and allocated places for cycling and soft mobility. A wonderful collective adventure with an exceptional team called Étamine that includes Systra, Ingérop, Transitec, Richez_Associés, gautier+conquet/puma and Lavigne & Chéron.

Marseille: Prado seafront park to confront 21st century challenges

The Ville de Marseille appoints us with Agence TER (lead consultant) to master plan the Littoral Sud.
From Roucas Blanc to Pointe Rouge within the major sequence that links L'Estaque to the Calanques, this artificial recreational coastline developed 45 years ago will be redesigned to take into account ecology, climate change adaptation and change of use.
Seafront areas, beaches, parks, promenades, facilities, etc. - each will be reviewed through an intensive public consultation process with the invaluable contribution of Sens de la Ville. The Master Plan will be completed in 2026.

Toulouse: Touch Park - nature within the city

Saint-Martin-du-Touch is a Toulouse neighbourhood, a ZAC (local development area) that we oversee, bordered by a beautiful river, the Touch - of course! The park that lines its banks is due for redevelopment. Our approach is ambitious – depaving with the reuse of existing materials and, of course, careful attention to the existing vegetation. Paved and asphalt surfaces will be removed to reinstate permeable soils in the park and rubble reused in street furniture, gabions and brushwood hedges.
Existing vegetation will continue to flourish freely to provide a resilient landscape, economical to maintain and low in water consumption, to generate biodiversity.
Ecological labyrinths, gardens where to relax, multi-sport playing fields and fitness areas will enrich the park, making it a dynamic and welcoming place designed to accommodate life in all its forms.

Liège: Tramway makes a comeback

More than 50 years later, it's back - the first new tramline that connects Sclessin to the famous Standard Stadium southwest of the city, to Cornemuse and Liège Expo, entered service Monday 28 April.
About 12km of development from one end to the other, the tramway provides a spectacular journey through the Ardent City to reveal the full richness of its geography, landscapes, architecture and heritage from the banks of the Meuse to Saint Lambert Cathedral, from the medieval Rue Feronstrée to the TGV station designed by Santiago Calatrava.
In a country with a strong tramway tradition, Liège is the first Belgium city to have a site-specific tramway to join the worldwide trend to public transport and urban planning with the French tramway approach! In association with Greisch (lead consultant), Transamo, Daniel Boden, AAST, Transitec (France), Des Villes et des Hommes, Jacques Fryns, Marc Aurel and Eric Rhinn, Richez_Associés is proud to advise SRWT (Walloon Transport Authority) on this major undertaking developed and operated by the PPP Tramardent consortium.
